WHEN
10:30 am, Saturday, July 9th
WHERE

Embassy Suites
Hot Springs, Arkansas
10:00 a.m.

We'll go over to the downtown parking garage and park on the top two floors (free parking up there). If anybody wants to feed the meters, they are welcome to park on a lower level, we will need about an hour of time, but I like the top because it's fun to go up and back down, round and round.

We will walk over to the Fordyce Bathhouse arriving there at about 10:30 am. This is the National Park Visitor's Center and is really beautiful. We will be given a guided tour by one of the park volunteers or a ranger, whoever is available at that time.

After our tour, we will go up and over Music Mountain on Cedar Glades Road to Hwy 227 (Mountain Pine Rd.). We will take 227 out through Mountain Pine and go to the top of Blakley Dam. Here we will stop and take a picture with Lake Ouachita as the background. We will go back down through Mtn. Pine and across the Strawberry Cut-Off to Hwy. 7 north and stop at the restaurant for lunch.

Then we will head north on 7 to Hollis. At Hollis, we will go west on Hwy 314. It's about 17 miles over to Hwy. 27. The road is in good shape and pretty fast. Nice power curves and very little loose gravel, YEAH! Anyway, across 314 to 27 south. 27 south reminds me of Hwy 8 to Glenwood from Mena, but in better shape and with shoulders!!!! It Rocks!!! We will take 27 south to Hwy 270 at Mt Ida.

Then take Hwy 270 back towards Hot Springs. If anybody is interested, we can stop at one of the access points along 270 and go to the lake and swim (Crystal Springs or Brady Mountain are probably the best). I think I will just take a vote at the beginning of the drive or maybe by radio and see if folks want to do that. Tell them to bring swimming suites and towels, in case we decide to swim. Lake Ouachita is GORGEOUS and a great place to cool off, so I'm sure that would be fun, but I don't know if everybody will want to do it or not. Personally, I don't care.

Once back in Hot Springs, I will say good bye and you guys will be on your own to get back to Little Rock.

Even though there is no limit to participants, the count of cars on this
